“Risky Business”: Dental X-rays - Are They Safe? Necessary?

Almost every day dentists and their staff members are asked "Why do I need these X-rays?". We have patients and parents of children who believe that dental x-rays are dangerous. X-rays can be. But modern dental offices use techniques to minimize the risk and ensure the safety of your examination. The ADA recently released updated guidelines about "patient selection" for x-rays and "limiting radiation exposure" and has launched a new campaign for child x ray exposure called "Image Gently" - to "child-size" x ray exposure.

This program will identify types of x-ray exams, discuss their risk in comparison to daily activities and everyday risks we take in our lives so that you and your staff can present understandable information to your patients to ease their fears. Dr. Miles will also present the newest technology to reduce x-ray dose simply and effectively. The talk is fun, informative and designed to help you explain to your patients, in understandable terms, the REAL risk of dental x-ray examinations.
